I returned to FIT in 1997 to take various courses in fashion styling, hand and machine knitting, silk and felt flower making and millinery. I fell in love with the art of millinery. I have traveled all over the country and internationally to study with milliners of all backgrounds.
I have shown at "Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week Green Show" in September 2010, and have been a part of many exhibitions, most often with The Milliner's Guild, of which I am a member.
After taking classes and receiving my Certification in Millinery, I knew that designing hats would be my profession. So the time arrived to go after my dream and "Hats by Kat and Accessories Too" was born.
All of my couture hand blocked hats are made in my atelier in Manhattan. I also have a line of cut-and-sew fabric, leather, fur and faux fur hats. I make beautiful and stylish leather flower bouquets, brooches and headbands. The leather bouquet is suitable for bridal parties or just about any special occasion. I specialize in one of kind hats. I buy limited designer sample fabrics and leather. Upon request I will do special orders on any idea in my collection. The various styles of all cut-and-sew hats can be made for both fall/winter or spring/summer fabrics and leather.
I am the treasurer of the Milliners Guild of New York, and a member of The Headwear Association, an organization in its 110th year.
